Being Tactical In Business

Today I was asked what I thought about a conference call. I responded that I didn't think our counterparts were very tactical in their business. My co-worker who only understands analogies asked "how so?" I responded by telling him:

Among the many theories involving why Modern Man survived in Northern Europe while Neanderthal Man died out is the theory involving our advanced linguistic abilities. When Neanderthal Man was hungry he could only say: "I'm hungry, let's hunt", while Modern Man could say: "I'm hungry, let's hunt. You guys go hide in the bushes overlooking while I chase the Mammoth down the valley and you guys spear him." Neanderthal Man was left to scavenger the woods and died...Modern man was tactical and they survived. Our business will only survive if we are equally tactical.
